Well this is a new one! One company released software on the Mac store which gives users the option to have the account upgrade for free with the caveat of running a crypto miner in the background. I have to say it's pretty clever! Most people will definitely do this. It's basically a win-win for everyone. The user will get to use the software for free, and the company will get to generate revenue which over the course of the software life will probably generate more than the cost (plus inflation).
As we've seen in the past, these miners are becoming more and more common for scenarios and websites to include. Now that people know there's easy scripts to grab, we're seeing them everywhere!!
