Well, this is a new one. Android users enjoy the benefits of a more open platform compared to Apple, however, things like this seem to end up happening more as a result. Freedom always brings about evil...just look at anything.

This new malware "RottenSys", is disguised as a 'System Wi-Fi service' app that comes pre-installed on millions of brand new smartphones manufactured by Honor, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, Samsung and GIONEE — added somewhere along the supply chain.

In total, 4,964,460 devices have been infected by RottenSys. This malware reaches back to the command and control servers and actually uses this to download and install malware.

RottenSys is an extremely aggressive ad network which pushes out ads in hopes to generate add click revenue.
