New Bike Day!

Just picked up a 2018 Specialized Enduro Comp 29. Aluminum frame, Rock Shox Monarch Plus shock 160mm travel, Rock Shox Yari fork 160mm travel, SRAM GX 1x11 speed drivetrain, Roval wheelset, Command Post dropper post, SRAM Guide R brakes.

This will be my all-around MTB for trail riding as well as lift accessed riding at Blue Mountain and Horseshoe Valley here in Ontario. Also looking forward to taking it on our annual trip to Nova Scotia. Can't wait!

Out of the box I converted it to tubeless and lost 1 lb of rotating weight. Full bike is 32 lbs but I may upgrade to Roval carbon wheels this summer if I get the cash flow. Not exactly a lightweight XC racer but I prefer going fast and having fun downhill and simply tolerating and taking my time on the climbs. Kinda like Enduro racing, which this bike was practically made for, even though it was called the Enduro before the race series existed.

I toyed with the idea of going with Specialized 6Fattie version with 27.5 plus wheels/tires, but found that most reviews online found the 29er version better overall. I can still convert this one to 6Fattie, and I have a buddy who just bought a Specialized Fuse 6Fattie and we can swap the wheels/tires between the bikes so we can both see what our bikes ride with each other's wheelsets on before investing in a new wheel/tire size. It should be an interesting comparison.

Still snowy here in Southern Ontario so no rides yet. When I am in my basement on the trainer with my hardtail, I prop the Enduro right in front of me so I can oggle it while spinning. It will never be this clean and pristine again...

Thanks for looking...

There's nothing like getting a new bike. I was getting one a year, new or used, for a few years but I finally took a break this year. I bought a new Surface Pro and I'm not sure I can afford a bike as well for this year. But I bought a touring bike last year. That's all I really need to get me on long trips. I want to do so many this summer.

Congrats. New bike day!

This looks super nice and i am really interested in seeing how it goes uphill. I am sure it will be good going down!

From the picture i cannot tell, but are you using flat or clipless pedals?

The bike came with crappy plastic Specialized flats, I just slapped them on for now. I'll be running XT Trail clipless for regular MTB, and some sort of alloy flats (maybe Saint?) for DH-style lift accessed.
