Men's Road Race Results:
🥇 - Peter Sagan (SVK)
🥈 - Alexander Kristoff (NOR)
🥉 - Michael Mathews (AUS)
Slovakian rider Peter Sagan took his third unprecedented consecutive rainbow jersey as he blitzed to a win in the Men's Road Race in Bergen, Norway.
The Slovak rode a near perfect race, remaining completely anonymous for the entirety, only putting himself in the frame at the very last second, edging past home favourite Alexander Kristoff.
None of the other road races at the World Championships had come down to bunch sprints, and the elite men’s race looked like it could be heading in the same direction as Julian Alaphilippe launched a powerful attack on the final climb. With 4km to go the French rider went solo, but was caught before 1km and the day finished with an exciting bunch sprint.
A very impressive win for the rider who was expelled from this year's Tour de France.
British and UAE Team Emirates rider Ben Swift did immensely well to come in 5th.
