The 2017 UCI Road World Championships will mark the 2nd time that Norway has hosted the major cycling event, after Oslo hosted it for the first time back in 1993.
I thought I'd give my predictions and favourites for the men's road race and the men's time trial, and a small bit of analysis of the upcoming event in the cycling calender.
Men's Road Race
Although Peter Sagan (pictured above) goes into the event as the defending champion, winning titles in the past two years; the Slovakian goes into the competition with little racing time under his belt after being expelled from the 2017 Tour de France.
My bet is with Edvald Boasson Hagen. The Norweigan will be battling for the rainbow jersey on his home soil, and the Dimension Data rider has been on solid form recently - with a stage win at the Tour de Britain last week.
Men's Time Trial (ITT)
Giro d'Italia winner Tom Dumoulin seems to be everyone's favourite for the men's time trial victory, but it has definitely been Chris Froome's year this year and I'd love to see him take the victory here. So I'm backing Team Sky man Chris Froome after impressive time trials in La Vuelta and Le Tour.
Tony Martin of Katusha-Alpecin goes into the race as defending time trial champion, but he has not impressed this year - and I don't see that changing here.
