Who is Jobiker

I have just joined steem and this is my first post. Being that I'm into cycling a friend who is already an established "steemer" suggested I should write my first post as an introduction. I am new to this whole platform so please forgive me if I don't do things correctly etc and please offer me advice freely.

Like every kid in the 80s I had multiple bikes - seems a different one every few years. None of them were new or exceptional - just typical mismatch of bikes - kinda like the bikes in ET, The Goonies or Stranger Things. All of these shows are set in the 80's and the bikes the kids rode are just like I had. Back then a bicycle was empowering, you could get across neighbourhoods to visit friends, get to school and back easily, run away from the cops (I came from that kind of neighbourhood), give your friends a "double", set up ramps and do awesome stunts, the list goes on - but needless to say from aged 7 to 14 I spent every day on my bicycle.

Years later I found myself living in London in a crappy neighbourhood, my roomies all got mugged or harassed on the mean streets of South London all the time, but I had a bicycle. I was untouchable, nobody got mugged riding a bicycle. I didn't mind venturing out late at night to buy more booze or go to the minimart. There was no chance of getting mugged if your were moving at a silent brisk pace on a black fixed gear! I was an urban jedi cyclist and to this day when I strap in to my pedals and move into the flow of traffic, it doesn't matter what city or what country, I'm instantly transported back to my fixie days in South London!

Nowadays I live in S.E. Asia and road biking sux - it's just too hot to be out on the road, people drive like assholes and anyway a scooter costs less than a good bicycle. But I love mountain biking these days. I have a few different bikes but my main trail bike is an awesome Specialised Stumpjumper that is now about 12 years old. I was given it by a buddy that broke his leg on it and his wife told him give it away or I'll throw it away.

Anyway now I ride it all over the mountain trails where I live and often take her to Thailand around Chiang Mai. Im not 22 anymore but I still go hard on that bike. I'll post some of my adventures here as I get used to the platform. Here's a few pics and thats my intro post done. I look forward to connecting with other cycle peeps here on Steem! Thanks for reading....:)
