Work, Steemit and cold weather are my excuses for not being active at the moment. In a desperate attempt to find motivation, I joined @aussieninja 's Movement May Challenge. Check out his latest post here. Aussieninja has been wonderful in organizing this, and any distance I managed to do this month is all thanks to him. ❤️
He's been on the lookout for participant reports, so here is mine:
As part of the challenge, I impulsively chose “Team Green”.
This was my commitment to running or cycling 200 Km in May.
I admit, I was a little hasty and a lot lazy. Maybe this was a tad unrealistic, but I'm committed now. Rain, hail or fail, I need to keep going to the bitter end. I thought the added pressure would finally give me a much-needed kick to my unmoving backside. Not so. After a sluggish running 5km start, I planned an 80 km ride on my favorite bike trail in the outer East of Melbourne last weekend. The Warburton Trail is a nice open trail that runs from Lilydale to Warburton and it’s approximately 40 km. During my fitter days, I’ve ridden the round trip of 80 km multiple times, but this trip turned out to be tough ride for terribly unfit me.
I won't go into the specifics other than to say I was cold, hungry, tired and my backside ached. After multiple RunKeeper crashes that lost ~6km, talking to myself when everything (including my hair!) started to hurt, and calling my husband up to whine, I finished my ride at 74km. I'll just shrug off the losses due to technology.
5 + 74 = 79 km (MTD)
I'm behind the expected 50% mark! With 121 km remaining and only 12 days to go, I'll have to do A LOT better! The mother-in-law will be down a couple of days next week, so I've got some night rides planned with my husband. It's still uncertain I will make my quota as it depends on my work schedule. So that brings me to the end of my progress report.
@thekitchenfairy was the first to post her update, so that says a lot of good things about this witness. I applaud any mother who can put in the time for her fitness, and since she runs around with a cupcake as a body, it's gotta be extra hard work. So, go fairy! May the cupcake fall off and you end up with a healthier carrot stick torso! hehehe ❤️
@Ratticus is a patient and methodical Steemian, and his steady progress and careful tracking of his Kms always makes me a smile. He has a dodgy hip too, so all the more reason to cheer every km he manages injury free! I actually found Rat's posts a good reminder to stay on this challenge. ❤️
I still need to drop in on others to see if they've made any progress too. If you're reading this and not on the challenge, don't forget to take a break from Steemit and get some fresh air!
@teamaustralia remains my favorite community. It is a lively and supportive hub for all Aussie Steemians. If you have not already, please get in contact with @choogirl on the PAL discord Server.
Honestly, I think the natives there are a little bit crazy. In my fly-by visits, there's been talk of virgin goats, rusty trombones, trumpets, boobs, penises, and I even discovered a curie curator wearing very little clothes! He has plans to launch his music career in the next @comedyopenmic challenge, so look out for it. You will be 'blown' away!! ;)
So check out the current contest (Round 14), join their discord server, and get in contact with @idikuci to offer yourself up as a judge if you have the time. The contest is so popular, they're inundated with entries and need help. Or maybe just read and upvote the post submissions in a show of support for this welcoming and all-inclusive funny community.
Finally, please consider voting for the following witnesses for their commitment to keeping the blockchain secure and their community spirit: @ausbitbank, @curie, @jackmiller, @comedyopenmic, @cryptwo, @quochuy, @thekitchenfairy & @guiltyparties .

You may have only got out a couple of times, but I think you're doing fantastic with the distance you've clocked up. We always compare with what we used to be able to do, but after longer breaks from fitness, or other health issues, changing our expectations to match our current conditions are needed. Even if it's hard to do, I have to remember I can't just jump on a bike and do 20 km without thinking about it anymore. or run.
