How I made my bike 1kg lighter! // Carbon vs. Alloy. Does it really make a difference?

in cycling •  7 years ago

When I first purchased this carbon road bike I was put under the impression that it was light (or at least lighter than alloy). A couple of years later I finally weighed it, only to discover it weighs whopping 9.2kg, which is huge for a female specific small carbon frame! Here I discuss a few of the things I changed on the bike to make it about a kilo lighter. I also talk about the difference in carbon and alloy frames and whether it is really worth the extra $$ for carbon, when most alloy frames these days comparable to carbon in terms of weight (e.g. Cannondale CAAD12 Specialized Allez and Trek Emonda ALR). Will be writing a more in depth blog about this soon, until then watch the video and let me know your thoughts.
