The Seattle Rapha Clubhouse took the streets of Vancouver yesterday, a few members coming up here to explore this beautiful city. We all met at Musette Cafe, this awesome cycling cafe just off of Burrard street. I had full intentions on joining everyone for a ride; I carved out plenty of time in my day for it, I went to the cafe all geared up, but minutes before the ride it started to downpour.
This was pretty disappointing. I don't have the gear to ride in the rain, and honestly, I don't feel that safe doing so either. The roads get slick, in fall there is leaves everything which make the ground slippery even when you're walking let alone on 1" thick tires.
So I decided I should at least pop by the cafe and meet any local RCC members. I am so glad I did, they was some great people there to meet, all of them with years more experience than me. I got some awesome tips on where to get my road bike tuned up, where to get certain gear, and I even learned about this bike mechanic course that will teach me a lot of the basics on how to maintain my bike. I found that last bit very intriguing and I will definitely be looking into it more.
Some of the members there seemed to think we'd be getting a Rapha clubhouse in Vancouver next year. I REALLY REALLY hope thats the case. Their products are absolutely fantastic, I love every piece I own. The service at the clubhouse, also very good. The designs of the clubhouses are incredible; the LA Clubhouse was a collaborative with Herman Miller! On top of all this, you get free coffee (any coffee; latte, drip, Americano, etc...) when you're a member. Ugh.. I would die to have one here. Come on, Rapha, lets make this happen!
