The downtown hostel hosts free bike breakfasts every Wednesday in May and then a few more throughout the summer. This one was at the hostel but actually hosted by Two Wheels Bakery, which is located a few blocks away.
Two Wheels is a 100% gluten-free bakery, which doesn't matter to me but I'll support them. The food today was also all vegan. I'm not vegan or vegetarian but I'll eat vegan or vegetarian if a restaurant does it right. Their tofu scramble on a bagel tasted amazing!
I also got one of my bikes registered on the bike index. I'm sure the cops don't really make it a priority but it's a way to try to recover your bike if it's stolen. It's that time of year around here. Even bikes locked with u-locks are starting to be reported stolen. In the middle of the day even! It's aggravating that people can do this in broad daylight and nobody says anything. If as many cars were being stolen it would be all over the news and a top police priority.
I rode a little bit but had intended to ride more later.
After I got home I decided to try get my rear wheel brakes properly aligned on my Falcon Strada. This a racing style road bike presumably from the early 90's that I bought off Craigslist a couple years ago for $200. It had just sat in a garage for 20 years until the owner's ex-wife decided to get rid of it. It's made with Reynolds 531 tubing and seemed like a decent deal for the price. The only thing it needed was a new brake line. It could use a new seat I guess. This was stolen from me late last summer and I managed to get it back the next day! I made a post in the Buffalo Stolen Bikes group on F-book and received an immediate reply from someone who had just found the bike and was getting ready to make their own post. The bike was left on the side of the road with the wheel out of alignment, rubbing hard on the brake. My guess is that whoever stole this was unable to ride on SPD pedals, crashed it, and just gave up. The person who found it refused a reward and was just happy to reunite it with me. I had been meaning to take a look at it for sometime and finally got around to fixing it, mostly. The wheel is slightly out of true and makes a light rub on the brake pad, but it's hardly noticeable on the test run I took below. I'll take it in to fully fix the wheel soon.
Sorry for the short rides and no rides, but I think I have the flu. Who gets the flu in the summer? Well I had these same symptoms this time last year. I tried to push through and ride today but that was a dumb idea. I'm going to rest a couple days so I can do some bikecamping soon. I guess I'll post some more movie reviews in the meantime.

That is one classic bike, looks like the 1970's/80's.

Yeah, it totally looks early 80s at first but both the person who sold it to me and the local bike shop says it's early 90s. I forgot the only other thing wrong with it was that it took 3 guys at the shop and an overnight soak to get the original pedals off of it.
I garbage picked an early 80s Schwinn the other day that I'm hoping I can fix up.

Super cool bike!
And it looks in darn good shape as well for a 30-40 year old bike

Thanks! I'm pretty sure it was barely ridden at all. The only wear may have come from storage.
