It's a common mistake and happened to me but i correct the address before submitting the transaction but this is first time i know what should happened after sending to my own address.
I still prefer to use myethwallet with high caution.

    Great point to changing the address before sending. I also use myetherwallet, but MetaMask seems easily assessable. This is the first time I have had this problem and scams are everywhere so I am always triple checking things.
