Tub Cat will assume that you haven't taken the time to learn how Steemit works and what is required in order to make some decent money from this platform.
Steemit is not like Facebook, Instagram or Twitter where you create one line posts or just post a single image. And then hope to get lots of likes and up votes.
To be successful on Steemit you need to create good quality and original content. Don't expect to just put up some crap you find on the internet, and generate huge returns from it.
If you post great, original content that is created by YOU. Then you'll do very well here.
Tub Cat is not trying to discourage you from using this platform, but is trying to give you a realistic understanding of what it takes to succeed here. Steemit is a fantastic platform and anyone can have success here.
It takes time to build a following and start generating decent returns, however there are plenty of people here who have growing sizeable accounts in just a few months.
It just takes persistence and consistency, and some patience.

thanks i just got on here today. all i do is record music. can't put words together but in song, and hate to read, can't spell, so maybe i don't have right kind of smarts for this site. i do have about 300 songs i've recorded but maybe people don't care on this site or i can't upload here....? thanks for not being a jerk.

Welcome. I would suggest you take a look at DTube if music is your thing. It sounds like you could do very well there.
DTube operates on the Steemit blockchain, which enables you to earn currency in a similar manner. The key difference being that DTube is for video and music creators over authors and people who prefer to write or do photography.
DTube is much like YouTube, only without the censorship. I highly recommend you check it out.
