Puerto Rico: Want to Be the Center of the DAC Future?

Hey, Puerto Rico.

I’ve got an idea. Instead of voting harder next time and electing another ruler you’ll eventually become dissatisfied with (like every other country, state, or territory)... Instead of all that, consider something completely radical:

Consider ruling yourself.

I know, it sounds like crazy talk. I mean, really, what about “Muh Roads?”

For real, though, it can be done. Blockchain technology for transparent governance by local communities is being developed right now (check out https://eosDAC.io for an example, a trusted block producer on EOS, owned and operated by the community). We don’t have to keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result. We can (and eventually will) try something new which better serves us. This beautiful island and its amazing people could become the center of the world for this emergent technology. We could show the world the true power of global, non-violent consensus. We can make the old paradigms obsolete by innovating new solutions which include controlling your own store of value, working in multiple communities you’re passionate about, and ensuring your vote goes towards custodians who can be removed at any moment and are fully accountable along with an elected group to make decisions on how this island’s resources should be used. We no longer need single points of failure. We have mutisignature (meaning decentralized decision making), cryptographic (fancy word for really secure and only controlled by the intended parties) tools which are becoming easier to use every day.

If you work in government or you know people who work in government, let’s get these conversations going. The future is ours. There may not be a better time to explore the options in front of us than right now.
