Dear @DtubeDaily on @Dtube #162 // forcing isolation to get shit done, minimise the threads and whoa steemhunt making moves! :)

in daily-vlog •  6 years ago

last night I had it in my head that I would approach this day very differently from yesterday, yesterday I was kinda scratching the surface with the wheels burning rubber and not going anywhere, sometimes I have one of those Mondays and so I was determined to mix it up and make sure the rest of the week went smoothly.

Sometimes you have to isolate everything around you to make space for the one thing that needs to be done, remove the distractions, power down your wifi, reindex easels, boot up on a USB Live drive and do your thing, literally digital isolation, as if the power went off or you had run out of bandwidth — for the next three days i’ll be doing this so I deliver on something for a client on time.

Of course this means that you have to get yourself prepped and change the way you normally do things, for me this normally involves a hard reset when it comes to the way my day starts, remove the normal apathetic ways that I would go about my day — get up, water, put on the kettle, find clean things to cook food (you know the kinda thing)

Today I had none of that, I cleared out in my mind what I was going to do and I partitioned it into two headspaces — planning and output, I got all the downloads I need, all the assets I needed, found a quiet time period to record and also to write, if I had everything planned out first then it would be much easier to step through and I know that I have a fifteen hour window to get this done.

I’ve given myself three days to do that even thou I might be able to do it in two, I better result for the client means potential repeat work but also good stats in the algorithm — putting out the way I work makes me as a remote freelancer easier to work with for future projects and in some ways you can indirectly train a better way for the client < > worker interface to work.

BUT.

Then I read an announcement this morning from the @steemhunt guys about exchanges, the HUNT token, all things, amazing progress — I have to admit I was nervous again, like watching your daughter grow up through school and go to ‘big school’ — how a small project get’s bigger and bigger and then is influenced by money and then changes rapidly — I guess if we want to get into those ‘market places’ you have to grab the bull by the horns and ride it out.

So far I’ve been blown away by this very small team and it’s ability to output the things they have, every step they have just super impressed me with their nimble changes, fixes, updates, additions, foresight and ability to react to the ‘environment’ around it — it’s been pretty stunning to see a modern day decentralised blockchain app come together.

I’m super interested now more than ever to see how this will pan out, I just hope that we will keep our collective heads about us as we head into this ‘brave new world’ of tokens and services — I know the landscape is gonna look a heck of a lot different in the years to come especially when it comes to getting projects of the ground.

Now is always the time, today is always the day to make a start to carve out opportunity.
