NFL Week 2 Afterthoughts

  • New England's defense may not be good but when Tom Brady want's to move that offense...beware.
  • Tom Brady is the GOAT. There is NO argument.
  • New Orlean's offense is no longer the offense we've known from the past 5 or so seasons. Michael Thomas excelled last year due to the presence of Brandin Cooks. With Cooks gone, Ted Ginn Jr. has not been a viable replacement and the running game is non-existent.
  • Buffalo is not as good as I originally gave them credit to be.
  • Carolina is definitely not as good as I originally thought they were. Cam Newton has got to get back into form.
  • The Jets are bad. Real bad. Can't emphasize that enough.
  • I expected so much more from Pittsburgh against the Vikings because of the QB injury. Nothing to be worried about, but sometimes they play as though they're a Super Bowl contender and then they have weeks that they look like they're just middle of the pack.
  • The Jaguars defense fooled me enough last week to believe they were finally changing their ways as a whole team. Unfortunately, Blake Bortles is still BLAKE BORTLES. The loss of Allen Robinson was going to hurt the team bad, but I expected the Jags to win this week and not get man handled by the Titans. Maybe I'm too hopeful and should temper my expectations.
  • Speaking of the Titans, they looked more like the team I was expecting them to be this season but they're doing it with a very limited role from DeMarco Murray. It looks like it may be Derrick Henry time already. I didn't see this coming.
  • Arizona, Arizona, Arizona...more specifically Carson Palmer, Carson Palmer, Carson Palmer. He's had the matchups two weeks in a row to excel and he has squandered both opportunities which in turn is hurting his supporting cast. I don't know how much more faith I can have in this guy. It's crazy how one year in football can change the level of play of someone at any position.
  • Coach Pederson of the Eagles called 13 run plays against the Chiefs, and they didn't win. I'm not saying hot seat, I'm just saying people have already took notice.
  • Carson Wentz might be the real deal...might
  • Kareem Hunt = football fan household name
  • Tampa Bay is impressive and that is not an understatement. I understand they played the Bears, but the Bears defense is no slouch. Can't wait to see more from them this year.
  • You gotta feel for the lack of talent offensively on Chicago this year. Watching the lack of competition and firepower of some teams this year is hard to watch.
  • And if you're gonna feel sorry for Chicago, you have to mention the Browns. How much more can this franchise go through? And the injuries aren't helping. Corey Coleman is feared to have broken his hand and DeShone Kizer was temporarily out during todays game. I'd have a heart attack every week if I was a Brown's fan.
  • Jay Cutler's hail mary = "smh..." A win is a win though.
  • Jay Ajayi had 28 rushing attempts. If those numbers are 24 or more next week, rostering a bell cow RB is a great approach for lineups.
  • Whether he was on the trade block in the off season or not, I said he was a PPR machine this week and Jay Cutler proved me right. Jarvis Landry had 13 receptions! Wouldn't be surprised if that lead the league this week.
  • Did you see Marshawn Lynch dancing on the sidelines during Oakland's game? It may not be entertaining to some, but Lynch is such a personality and I love the fact he's on his hometown team having fun.
  • I'll say a name and you're either gonna love that you rostered him or you're gonna hate that you didn't: Michael Crabtree. I just know if you had Amari Cooper then you aren't a happy camper.
  • How bout dem Cowboys? More like time to respect the Denver Broncos if you doubted them last week.
  • I am not a Trevor Siemian believer, but I'm slowly getting there.
  • Washington and LA: they basically swapped roles from last week. I can't evaluate these teams equally yet. I need to see more.
  • San Fran is an obvious yikes and I'm not looking forward to their matchup at all with the Rams on Thursday. But I am very confused with Seattle. 12-9 in Seattle? Never in my life would I have saw that coming.
  • Atlanta represented well in their new stadium and this is what I was expecting from them in Week 1 against the Bears. Expect more from them all year.
  • Aaron Rodgers is a magician on the football field. He makes something of nothing at will. Even when his team is out of reach of a win, he still gives you more than a glimmer of hope.
  • There was a lot of injuries this week to track. Keep an eye out so you know who and who not to target for you matchups next week.

Extremely concerned about the Pats offence with Gronk nursing a groin injury today, Dorsett getting hurt, Amendola out, Edelman gone, Burkhead hurt today. Tough to win games throwing to Matt Devlin lol Nice article. Thanks. I posted my recap for Sunday nights game if you want to check it out. Cheers

Bill Belichick is the master in making something of nothing when it comes to injury. Given anyone would be worried with those injuries, but there's a sense of security knowing him that everything will work out.
And it definitely doesn't hurt when Tom Brady is managing the football.

A master he is indeed....tho I think Belichick is overrated on the offensive side of the football. People are quick to credit him with a 3-1 start last year but that against a weak schedule and they were shut-out by the Bills with Brisett. Yes, they went 11-5 under Matt Cassell in 2008 but they MISSED THE PLAYOFFS and won 5 more games with Brady the year before. Belichick went 5-13 over a season and change with former #1overall pick Drew Bledsoe who also made the pro bowl multiple times and took the Pats to the Super Bowl. I think BB has evolved as an offensive coach but D has always been his forte, and the only way I see the Pats having the fortitude to beat the Ravens, Steelers, Broncos and some of the NFC giants, is to get healthy at WR. They brought in multiple WRs for tryouts today. They simply don't have the personnel right now, and someone will have to step up as a surprise or I'm afraid they might be knocked out before the Super Bowl this year.
