I had just fed them and when they saw the collards- they went nuts 😂

Mine do. I think they all do. They don't utilize them very well so they can't survive on greens only, but it adds to their diet. I give them all kinds of weeds, they love the collards - they are the tree collards which grow all year round, I planted Amaranth on the outside of the coop so what grows into it can be eaten, I give them grape leaves and have a compost where all kinds of stuff goes. No Avocado....

I'll try grape leaves tomorrow :) I tried some cheese with mine and it was gone quickly. I read somewhere that they like it for protein.

I just ordered a WHOLE lot of comfrey, some of which will be planted like your amaranth for at-will grazing. The rest will be planted everywhere I see space.

Also, looked what I found! An herb garden for chickens! It's on the list of things to buy this weekend.

That seems like a lot of money. don't you have any friends in the neighborhood? I am leaving to go on a trip tomorrow, otherwise, I would send you a bunch of those...
No garden club? or neighbors with gardens?

Ooh, nice! That's got a lot of good stuff in it.

I've actually held off buying the herb kit because it seems high. A lot of things on that site do.

As for friends, I need to work on that more. I keep saying I need to meet them. Guess it's time to actually do it...

There's a local garden supply I'm checking out tomorrow with Sam when he gets home from school.

Yes, make friends. Gardeners love to share. Most of everything in my yard is from clippings from a friend and seeds shared and such.
Also, a lot of time I grow things from food. Like beans - I get them organic by the lb and check if it they germinate. Balck eyed peas are a really good soil builder and I bought 5 lbs from the co-op. They are growing like crazy!

Mmmmmm! Black eyed peas are my favorite from the gardens we had growing up. They're definitely on the list for spring. Didn't know they're good for soil too! That's a big plus! :)
