Indeed! Ours don't roam, but I'm planning on expanding their run. Free range is prohibited here, and I feel like we shouldn't break any more chicken laws right now. Maybe one day soon though.

Made a little drawing of it. Rule of thumb is a minimum of 10 square feet per bird. We'll have nine in here, so they'll have more than enough room with space for a few more if we decide to add some in the future. Might be a good project for the upcoming long weekend...

Yessir! That's the plan. Giving us the option to add a few if need be. But I think our little flock of nine will be good to go for a while. If we add any, it won't be til the spring. I'd like a few Wyandottes now, but we're focusing on the soil and water for a bit.

I'm only 29, retirement isn't for 40 more years lol
But maybe one day I'll be financially independent and not need a traditional job. That's the dream, but it's a ways off right now. Need more land for that.

If we had more land, I'd do more of the same AND have meat birds, cows, and pigs. Being food independent would be an awesome feeling.
