TOPIC:
Maximizing Opportunity

BIBLE READING:
Acts 24: 22-27

Qs. 1,2. See Questions HERE.

DISCUSSION:

Why would Felix, the governor, have listened to both the accuser and the accused (24:2-21) need to have Lysia's
testimony besides the letter he had written? One cannot but smell a rat. Probably to pacify his conscience, he provided Paul some freedom and the liberty to interact with his friends who would care for him. His regular visit to Paul to listen to his message were, however, for wrong reasons. See vs 25-26. Unfortunately, although the message appears clear, he was unwilling to commit himself probably because of his desire for bribe. Bribery has undermined our judicial and social system. It has destroyed the lives of many, especially like Paul, victims who are languishing in our prison cells. We who are God's children should shun it with passion.

Paul, however, did not waste any opportunity to share the gospel message. Notice the three key areas he focused on (v. 25). How relevant are these to Felix? The word of God is powerful, living and active... " (Hebrews 4:12). Do we also use every opportunity at our disposal to share it? See 2 Timothy 4:2.

Thought:

It is painful that Paul was left in prison, but God used this situation for his grand purposes! Paul wrote significant letters to the Churches in the New Testament from his prison cell.

Prayer:

Pray for yourself or any person you know who is going through unfair and unjust institutional treatment. Ask for God's divine intervention and rescue.

Nothing happens by chance. God authors our life in the perfectness of ways. If we yield to Him, He'll always bring out the best in us even in the oddest of places.

We dont agree less: "Nothing happens by chance...If we yield to Him, He'll always bring out the best in us". Thanks for your input @evegrace. Remain blessed.
