Prince weighs 87 pounds; Bear, only 50 pounds; both are two years old now. Prince is rugged, born to working parents on a dairy farm. Bear is dainty, sired by world-class "Onyx," and was an $850 puppy, but we got him at age 10 months for a steal, because his young owners couldn't keep this Collie boy busy. Bear got into a lot of mischief as a result. These days, Prince gives him more than enough to occupy and entertain him.

You are lucky! My friend bought a pure breeds Collie boy for $2800! But who care as long as they are healthy.
But I would never buy pet, only adopts.

We looked and looked at adoption and rescue sites and the local pound, but the husband is a collie loyalist, and on the rare occasion we ever spotted a collie for adoption, someone else would beat us to it. I'd never pay $2800 to a breeder, and we wouldn't pay $850, either. Hence, Bear was a "steal" - but we gave the young couple twice their asking price, knowing how much money they were losing, and knowing Bear was such a great dog, if he were in the right home. I'd love to see your friend's Collie. I'm in half a dozen Collie Loving groups on Facebook, and it's fun to see all the others out there, and how very very loved they are.
