Friends of Steemian, the day I try to serve about the dance lanup lampuan, dance lanup lampuan is one of the traditional dances originating from the region of Aceh. This dance includes a welcoming dance that is usually performed by women dancers by presenting betel as a receipt of the community, this dance is also one of the most famous traditional dances in Aceh and is often shown to greet the honorable guests as well as other traditional greetings.
Dance Ranup Lampuan was first created in 1959 by one of the famous artist from Aceh named Yusrizal. Dance Ranup Lampuan name is taken from the word "Ranup" and "Lampuan". Ranup itself in the language of Aceh means "Sirih", while Puan is a place / container of Aceh's special betel. It is said that this dance is lifted from the custom of Acehnese society in welcoming the honored guest by presenting betel as their receipt.
According to some existing historical sources, Ranup Lampuan Dance has undergone several changes to become like the present form. This dance was originally performed by several female dancers accompanied by orchestral or band music. In 1959 Ranup Lampuan dance was modified by adding 3 male dancers, consisting of 2 guards using a sword and one vandel holder.
But around 1966 this dance was then changed again to its original form. This is done in accordance with the advice of the elders of adat, that is by displaying the female dancers only. In addition, changes in duration is also done because it felt too long, so this dance began to experience compaction.
Development of Ranup Dance This ability does not stop just like that, in 1972 this dance changed again, that is in the music pengiringnya. The musical accompaniment that was originally an orchestral or band music was later replaced by traditional musical instruments such as serune kale, gendrang, and rampa'i for more traditional feel. After these changes, it becomes its present form.
Ranup Lampuan dance is more functioned as a traditional welcome dance or welcoming guests of honorable who are visiting there. This welcome dance is always synonymous with betel and puan, which in the Acehnese tradition has special values and meanings in it. In the adat community of Aceh, sirih and puan can be interpreted as a symbol of brotherhood among the people. So when guests are served betel, it means he has been well received by the people there. Likewise, when guests have enjoyed the treat, it means he received a good reception given by the community there.
Ranup Lampuan dance is usually performed by female dancers. The number of dancers usually consists of 5-7 dancers. In the show, the dancers are dressed in a beautiful traditional dress and bringing the master and betel which will be served to the guests. Accompanied by traditional music, they danced with their distinctive moves in front of guests and spectators.
Movement in Ranup Dance This ability is usually dominated by gentle movements that symbolize the politeness and sincerity of the dancers. When observed carefully, every movement in this dance has a special meaning in it. Movement of movement such as greeting gestures, picking betel, cleansing betel, mengkapukan chalk, give gambir and pinang and the last is presenting betel to the guests.
Ranup Lampuan dance was initially accompanied by orchestral or band music, but after 1972 the music accompaniment Dance Ranup Lampuan was changed by using traditional musical instruments of Aceh such as sarune kale, drums and rampa'i. This is done to make it look more traditional and represent traditional Acehnese arts. For the rhythm that is played while accompanying the dance is of course also adapted to the movements of the dancers.
