Sambalpuri - Folk Dance of Odisha

Odisha is a land of Art and culture. There are many folk dance forms evolved in different regions of the state.

Sambalpuri dance, a folkloric dance form, owes its origin to the western part of Odisha, particularly the erstwhile Sambalpur district of Odisha. This place is known for its sculpturisque Odissi dance form. Deriving its name from the presiding deity of ‘Samalai’, Sambalpur has a distinct cultural identity of its own.

Sambalpuri dance is one of the most leading folk dance form in Orissa.Sambalpur, in western Orissa, India, is a region that has a distinct cultural identity. The songs, clothing, dances, language and festivals celebrated in Sambalpur are unique. This distinct cultural identity arises from the strong association of the tribal and folk communities which have been coexisting in Sambalpur for centuries.

Sambalpuri dance is usually a group-dance from Sambalpur region in western part of Odisha. This dance performed by the tribal people in festive mood. It comprises of one of the most exquisite form of aesthetic expression for both men and women.
I have performed it in Solo to express the moves by feeling and connecting to Sambalpuri music and making it unique and refreshing to entertaining you all ......... Enjoy the folk art of dance....Hope you all like it:):)
