Dandelion ( Taraxacum officinale )

in dandelions •  5 years ago

Everyone has seen a plant in their life, we plant them in our gardens, keep them in pots in our houses so they´ll look better and more cozy. Plants make our homes more apealing because of how beautiful they are. But what about the ones that are actually helpful and have a lot of things to offer?

For example a flower we all probably know, a dandelion.
I think almost everyone knows what a dandelion is, but did you all know that they are actually incredibly healthy and ALL of it is edible? You can create a variety of things out dandelions as well; including honey, salad, lip balm and also wine!

Dandelions are my favorite flowers to be honest, because I think they are magical, they change their form and you can make a wish while blowing their seeds away. ( I know it´s just a child´s play but it´s fun and magical! )

The root of a dandelion is the most healthy part of the entire plant. It promotes digestion, has a diuretic and biliary effect and has a positive effect on metabolism. Active substances that stimulate the function of the liver, stomach, pancreas, intestines, kidneys and hematopoietic organs. Dandelion can be used in the treatment of diabetes, urinary stones, chronic fatigue and lymph nodes, enlargement of the spleen, against bone and cartilage degeneration, and to induce menstruation.

If you would like you can make a Dandelion detox water.
2 teaspoons sliced dried roots, 1/2 L of cold water.
We infuse the roots for 12 hours, preferably overnight. Then heat everything to 60 - 80 ° C (do not cook),
strain and drink a cup of warm extract 30 minutes before and after breakfast.
The extract intensively detoxifies the body, improves metabolism, helps with borreliosis, spring fatigue and cleanses the skin of acne.

But also be aware although dandelions are really helpful flowers every good has a little bad in it.
Dandelion is not recommended for people who have more serious kidney problems, because it is significantly diuretic. Without professional supervision, it should not be used by people with gallstones or bile duct obstruction, or with stomach ulcers.

Here are the months in which you can go and collect certain parts of the plant:
April - leaf, flower, root
May - leaf, flower, root
Jun - leaf, flower
July - leaf, flower
August - flower
September - flower
October - root
