There is good news that recently Google announced the news in its Community that they are going to add the Dark Mode theme support for Google News for the Desktop and MAC. Now users have the option to change between the Dark and Light themes on their preference.

Dark Mode is getting so much popularity nowadays for various reasons, but among them, there are two main benefits which I would like to highlight.

First, It helps you to deal with the dazzling brightness of your device screen while working. Many users don't like to work with bright screens because it puts much pressure on your eyes.

Second, using Dark Mode helps you to maximize the battery life, as it consumes less battery in comparison to the bright theme. So by using Dark Mode, you can ensure that your phone battery lasts long.

Many of you will say that Google News already had the support for Dark Theme, but let me clear you that Dark Mode for Google news was only available for Mobile apps. Google previously didn't add the Dark Theme for the desktop site.

But after so many requests from the users, Google finally decided to roll out Dark Theme for the desktop site too.

To use the Dark Mode in Google News for desktop, you have to ensure that you are logged in with your email id because only logged in users can enter the settings.

How To Enable Dark Theme For Google News For Desktop

There are two ways to enable Dark Theme for Google News. First, you can individually change settings for just Google News from the setting, or you can choose the system default under the dark mode settings. So Google News will respond according to the system theme settings.

Simply visit Google News -> tap on setting from the left sidebar -> tap on Dark Mode -> Choose "always" or "system default".

If you choose system default, then Google News dark mode will change with your device theme settings.

Google didn't introduce the Dark Theme experience to all of its services. Slowly they are rolling out this feature individually to each of their services. Google was spotted testing Dark Mode for search in December 2020, but still, it is not out, so we have to wait much longer to get dark Theme for Google Searches.

But we can expect, soon Google will roll out Dark Theme for its search too.
