The pressure of dating someone who is solely looking for an LTR

in dating •  6 years ago  (edited)

I am not averse to the possibility of an eventual LTR, but it's just not something I think about on a date. I want to know if this is somebody I get along with now and yes continue seeing. When I date someone looking for an LTR, it feels more like an interview, seeing only if some imaginary future together is possible.

This feels the opposite of romantic. For fear of having the dreaded "hook up," there isn't any real flirting even as they bring up the idea of a second interview, or date I mean. I'm not really looking for an LTR or even a monogamous commitment right now. But even if we were to have sex that night, it's because I really like her. There is no loss of respect. I figure things moved fast physically because we were into each other. Not even flirting makes me feel like there was no connection.
