Today, a company's most important asset is its data. It is a relative aspect that they are related to customers, operations, published content, emails exchanged with leads and prospects: the point is that it is practically impossible to work without this information.
Despite their importance, few companies are still investing in safeguarding this information and, above all, in tools that always make information available, even in the event of disasters. We only think of the backup procedures adopted that are no longer evolved in many cases than those used by ordinary home users: many realities are still convinced that a server or NAS is sufficient to store copies of the most important documents, but the reality is that a copy is not sufficient. If they are all kept in the same building, not even ten copies are enough. Another aspect, continuity, must be added to this: not everyone is faced with the problem of being able to restore information quickly in the event of a disaster so much so that often the banal break of a hard disk can cost hours of lost time.
Datto's backup and continuity solution In some ways it is understandable that a series of data continuity policies have not been established by some companies. Technology is moving fast, often faster than many SMEs ' business model. Second, most solutions for data continuity are costly and always impose costs within the reach of smaller organizations. They are often not even easy to install and manage. Luckily, there is no shortage of cheaper alternatives, like Datto's one.
Datto is a company with offices spread all over the world, originally from Norwal, Connecticut. It is distributed in Italy by ACHAB. Its Alto solution is dedicated to SMEs and has the advantage of being extremely simple to implement, safe and above all economical. It consists of a small device to be installed in corporate systems that continually creates the company server's virtual images: every few minutes a snapshot is taken that is saved locally and on the private cloud of Datto.
In case of problems, Datto will restore the last image of the system and it will be possible to resume work in a few moments (two seconds, depending on the company), losing only the changes made in the last 5 minutes.
All with the certainty that more and more security copies are available: one locally and at least one in the cloud, ensuring that information is available even in the event of real disasters.
When is the solution of Datto actually costing?
Andrea Veca, ACHAB's CEO, who distributes Datto solutions in Italy, explained how the customer can't buy the service directly. ACHAB provides its solution to service providers who sell it to their customers in turn. This is because the Datto solution, as we have specified, does not offer a simple software to be installed on the systems, but also includes the integration of a server in the company, whose installation is often not within the reach of the typical customer of these solutions. ACHAB sells the license to service providers starting at approximately € 100 a month, and the latter will inevitably make a reload to include the installation and assistance costs and, inevitably, their profit margin in the final price.
