CryptoTalk - A day in the future I envision...

in dayinfuture •  6 years ago

Hello Steemians! The Cryptocurrencies market is tanking today. We are seeing a sea of red. Is it a buying opportunity? Or will it get even lower? While it is difficult to predict what will happen in the short-term, we can always envision a future. A future which we believe in. In this article, I am not going to talk about short-term price action. Instead, allow me to walk you through a typical day in my envisioned future.

Here goes...

6.30 am

I got woken up by Sophia, my smart assistant powered by SingularityNET. "It is time to get ready for work", she says. I checked the outdoor temperature and humidity level on Sophia's LED panel, it is saying 28°C with a humidity level of 83%. The readings are taken every hour by an IoT sensor fixed outside my window. The data is collected and sold on DataBroker DAO, an IoT data marketplace, for additional income 😁.

I strap on my fitness tracker from Lympo, and head out for a jog. By contributing my health and fitness data, I get rewarded. At the same time, I am able to keep fit and understand how well I am doing compared to others. After the jog, I wash up and have a light breakfast. Ready for work to start.

8.30 am

Most companies are having a decentralized workforce these days. The organization structure, rules and policies are maintained by an Aragon powered solution. There is no need for a physical workplace, but most companies still retain a small office for face-to-face meetings. Even so, most meetings are conducted via Virtual Reality (VR) through the VibeHub platform. Employees can choose to work for multiple decentralized organizations, as long as the Aragon solution does not detect any conflict of interests. It is basically gig economy 2.0.

I sit down in front of my desktop. I left my PC on overnight and kept my Substratum running. It has become a habit to browse the internet through the Substratum network. There is no need for me to use VPN anymore. Yet, I can still achieve anonymity and access the web without censorship. I quickly launch my browser to connect to my company's work portal. Most organizations do not own their computing infrastructure now. They are mostly using the cloud (still largely dominated by Amazon, Microsoft and Google), but some have opted for decentralized platforms like SONM and DADI.

When at my company's portal login page, REMME logs me in seamlessly without the need for me to enter any passwords. When I am about to connect to my Virtual Desktop, REMME then prompted me for my 2FA passcode for additional level of authentication. Work is very different from 10 years ago. Most menial work have been replaced by AI and automation. But the thing I like now, is that I get to be paid by the minute, instead of monthly. Money gets "streamed" into my registered Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses by the minute. Bitcoin is now widely adopted by most merchants, so it is useful for payment in the physical world. While Ethereum, being the backbone for most dApps, is the default payment option in the virtual world.

Besides Ethereum, other dApps platforms (e.g. NEO, EOS, ICON and Cardano) are also popular in certain regions of the world. Much like programming languages, there will not be one dApps platform which will be 100% dominant. These dApps platforms mainly provides the smart contract capabilities, while data are still generally stored in IPFS or using Bluzelle's solution.

12 noon

It is time for lunch. The Augur prediction app says that it is likely going to rain in my area. Furthermore, feeling a bit lazy today, I have decided to call for food delivery. I pick up my phone, it is the latest model from SIRIN Labs, and fired up the food delivery app. I make my selection and checkout using my Ethos mobile wallet, it is a smart wallet which is able to convert different cryptocurrencies on the fly to make payment as seamless as possible.

While waiting for my food to be delivered by Dorado drones, I realize that I am out of Coca Cola (still my favorite drink). I head downstairs to a fully automated/autonomous minimart. There are easily hundreds of IoT sensors and devices (with at least 20 CCTVs monitoring the area) in this minimart. They are all connected to the IOTA Tangle. These smart devices are able to detect what products are low in stock and make orders to replenish them automatically. The CCTVs are able to detect and recognize human actions. If someone takes stuff without paying, the local police post will be notified immediately, with the video recording sent over to them for enforcement.

After getting my drinks, the drones reach my doorstep just in time with the food still piping hot 😋.

7 pm

Work has ended for the day and I am meeting my friends at a mall nearby for dinner. Not many people own cars nowadays, as government keeps emphasizing on being a car-light country. So car ownership gets increasingly expensive due to additional taxes. Furthermore, autonomous driving is considered safer because self-driving vehicles are able to communicate with other vehicles seamlessly, making traffic more predictable. Most self-driving vehicles connect to the DAV network, which is meant to connect riders, drivers and vehicles.

I hop on to a self-driving bus and it will bring me to the mall within 20 minutes. In this 20 minutes, time is not wasted. I logged in to the Effect.AI mechanical turk platform to earn some tokens by working on micro-tasks.

When I arrive, my friends are already at the restaurant waiting. We have our meal, talking and laughing. Sharing what we have read and written on Steemit. We even spend some time trading SteemMonsters 😁. I also shared with them a document which I uploaded through Oyster Storage. The file is 2GB in size, but Oyster Protocol is able to handle it well and have it stored encrypted in the IOTA Tangle.

Before I know it, it is already 10pm and it is time go head back home.

10.30 pm

I lie down on bed, reading some articles and checking the stock markets. Most companies have decided to issue ERC20 tokens to represent shares in their companies. It is not surprising as many corporate actions related to stocks can be done through smart contracts.

The stock portfolio app I am using accesses my Ethereum address and updates how my portfolio is doing. Unfortunately, it is a down day 😢. Stocks market is in the red. There is nothing I can do actually, other than playing some games to cheer myself up 😂.

Most games now are built on blockchain, this allows in-game items to be traded and monetize. Many game developers are using the SDK from Loom Network. In-game items collected in these games are unique and tradable either via Loom Network or the Enjin network.

Afer a few rounds of games, it is 12 midnight. It is time to go to bed. Another typical day has ended.

It's a hell of a red day, I see lots of coins dumping I can't even make a prediction because I'm confused.

Haha.. I guess it got redder today. But I am in here for the long-term, not going to be too concern about short-term price actions.

True though.

I wish the story never ended. The narrative reveals your knowledge of the crypto space - the specific tech and use cases of the various companies. How is it that I have a feeling you are begging us to buy those you have mentioned above?! Really intriguing and informative post @culgin.

I'll be praying for a day like this.

Thanks for taking time to read and comment bro. I am not by any way trying to shill those coins. In fact, I do not own most of them. Haha..

Honesty and transparency deserving of upvote!

I love how you embed several blockchain technologies in an everyday life, in this #dayinfuture. Brilliant write up bro!

Thanks bro! You have been delivering a lot of great content. Always looking forward to what you will come up next.

Very interesting article, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for reading!

I just bought some ether and I will look at my portfolio to see what I have invested in. I tend to try not to panic and instead take my time thinking about the reasons I invested and if anything changed.

Before I panic, I always ask myself, did anything changed fundamentally on a project? If no, then I will just ignore the price dip.

Haha, i love your envisionments for the future, I agree with you on some of these. This must been one of the most interesting articles I have read, I love what you are doing. Waking up in the morning and asking Alexa to order some toothpaste is where this is going haha!

Thanks for your support! The future is exciting isn't it?

it sure is :)

CryptoTalk - A day in the future I envision this post is very beautiful. Everybody does not think about the future. Those who only want to move forward, think about the future. You also have a bright face in them. There are many things to learn in your post.

Thanks for the comment! Glad that you enjoyed it.

Interesting. Will I still be around? Probably not. :-)

I am hoping it is not too far out in the future. Haha..

Having cryptocurrency takes some courage as market is down, some newbies go into panic selling to prevent more loss. The fact is that if we did not sell, we have not lose a single cent. I am like monitoring and coming to steemit regularly too. Market is down for the moment so hodl and buy if financially able as it is like Great Singapore Sale. Sell when it goes up and make multiples of profit but never invest more than you can till no food on table! Thanks for sharing your day!

Be greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy. That always work for me. Haha..

One does not simply get Alzheimer's living this way.

In this future of mine, cure is found for most diseases including Alzheimer's. Haha..
