🌼🌼 Daylily 'Heaven Adorned' 🌼🌼

I bought this daylily a few years ago for $100 (hybridized by John Shooter at Marietta Gardens.com) my favorite place to buy daylilies. They have less expensive ($5.) to really expensive varieties $300.). If it's a newly registered daylily it'll cost anywhere from $100 and up. When you start with a one of-of-a-kind, you pay for it. Price goes down as it gets distributed & propagated throughout gardens. Daylilies you find at stores like Lowes are usually less expensive because they've either been registered years ago and have had time to multiply or they're 'mutts', who knows what parentage (ancestry) and not registered with a Country's Hemerocallis (daylily) society.

Daylilies are a serious business. As with dog/cat breeders, daylily hybridizers cross the best of the best to create awesome colors, characteristics like ruffling, glitter (diamond dusted), eyes, halos & bands (color halfway up the petals that creates a circle around all petals), maximum branching with maximum buds etc. It's all in the eye of the beholder which are the most beautiful. Heaven Adorned is a 'polychrome' (multiple colors blending from the throat to the edges without a band which would break up the flow). Heaven Adorned is also dormant (disappears during winter) which are best for colder climates like here in PA.
