The armadillo is a terrestrial mammal belonging to the toothless or xenartals, order which includes other beings as extravagant, as sloths and anteaters. Its reptile tail, its mule ears and its carapace make it a very particular animal.
This curious animal is native to South America, where in rural areas it is hunted for being a great source of protein.
Small armadillos can measure about 15cm and large armadillos can exceed one meter. They are nocturnal and diggers. They are insectivores and omnivorous ghouls of the tropical zone of Central and South America.
The armadillo is also eaten at least in Honduras Venezuela and Nicaragua. It is said that its flavor is a mixture of chicken, rabbit and pork.
They are solitary animals, they walk or jog quickly. They do not have a good vision and at night they may stumble upon a motionless person. It is easy to know when they get scared because they run fast and loud. When he feels attacked he shrinks thanks to his horny shield forming a ball.
The reproduction is curious because the female lays an egg from which four offspring of the same sex emerge.
