Western cape water crisis.

So I’m posting this in an attempt to make people aware of the water crisis happening in the western cape.

For several months the people of the western cape have been warned to use water sparingly in an attempt to save water. Yet 60% of capetonians have been ignoring this. So in an attempt to force people to save water a punitive tariff will be put in place to force high users to use less water. If the wasting of water continues we will reach day zero, this is when there will be no running water in households across the western cape and people will have to collect water at local collection points.

As it stands now the new water restriction level 6b will be effective from 1 February 2018. This means each person should only use 50 litres of water per day for a 150 days.

We are urged to prepare in advance for day zero which is said to happen on 1 April 2018. It is our responsibility to save water and make people aware of the seriousness of the situation before it’s to late.
