CHAPTER FIVE
Dr. Sam was in his office wondering what could have happened to Tiana, why her attitude changed so sudden was strange to him. She had been hostile and so cold toward the male; he was baffled as to how polite she was earlier.
“I think a female doctor would be able to reach out to her” he thought, “I should try and talk to Dr. Jerry pertaining to this issue” he said to himself, as he stood up and walked towards the door.
He stopped at the door of Dr. Jerry wondering if he should walk in or just forfeit it. “I should probably just go back” he thought, “He had told me not to bring this issues of exchanging patients” He sighed and turned to leave the door “But, I think she needs a female doctor, they’re both women, it’ll be easier for them to bond and the patient would be open to her” he was still battling in his thoughts; when Dr, Jerry opened the door.
“Dr. Sam, what are you doing?”
“I am uhm… well I was…” Dr. Sam was dumbfounded.
“Come in” Dr. Jerry invited him in.
Dr. Sam stood still by the door he had shut, wondering what would become of him of him. “Was I murmuring?” he thought to himself, “could Dr. Jerry have heard me if I was murmuring?” He was still thinking when Dr. Jerry spoke to him.
“Why do you look like a ten year old who broke his mom’s favorite pot? He laughed heartily.
Dr. Jerry was always fond of making jokes which didn’t relate to the issue on ground. There he was laughing and making jokes at Dr. Sam, meanwhile there was a patient they knew nothing about, worse she lost her memory too. Dr. Sam stared as though Dr. Jerry’s jokes lacked humor. He stood like a log of wood, “pole” used to generate electricity; sweating under his armpits and a little bit on his forehead.
“Why so serious?” Dr. Jerry asked “I had a chat with Nurse Ella today” he said
Dr. Sam felt relieved, finally his wish was granted; he was still smiling in his head as he thought he would be relieved from the “patient” – but his happiness came to a halt when Dr. Jerry told him he had to carry on with the patient.
“But why sir?” he asked with regret in his voice
“We don’t have a female psychiatrist here, we would have to make the request first and await response” Dr. Jerry replied with his fingers entwined amongst each other.
“Sir, can’t another just take over until the female comes, because…” he couldn’t finish when Dr. Jerry cuts in
“Dr. Sam, go back to your patient. I will not change it until the new staff is given to us”
“Okay sir, I hope she comes as soon as possible, because this patient is just too hard to access”
“Let’s hope for a quick response from our head; you may leave now”
Dr. Sam was mad, he couldn’t bear the thought of going into that room again, “I mean, she hates men; is it until she kills someone – referring to himself – before they listen to me?” he said as his hissed and walked to his office.
Tiana was still staring out the window, when the nurse came in with a tray of medicine, and a leather bag. She invited
Tiana over to the bed and brought out a flask which she handed to Tiana who was now sitting on the bed. The nurse took her time to watch Tiana eat the food with a spoon she had given her; she didn’t leave until she was certain Tiana had finished her meal and taken her medicine. Tiana was smiling at the nurse with sincere happiness written all over her face, after she had drunk enough water, she gave the disposable cup to the nurse and said “Thank you” with a warm smile as a signature
“You’re welcome” replied the nurse as she picked up the tray as well as the leather bag containing the flask Tiana had just finished using and left the room.
Tiana sits for a while and stares at her surrounding, still wearing her “signature” smile and sighed, and one would tell
Tiana was happy about something. As seconds went by this smile began to wear off and finally leaving a smirk on her face. Tiana was thinking; but from her looks it was obvious Tiana was pretending or lying about something.
