The new life in Christ: Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. Ephesians 5:11

The apostle Paul in his epistle to the Ephesians taught about the importance of that new life in Christ through the sacrament of baptism. And this is so because a life full of sins is a contradiction with the Christian life, imitating Jesus, the life in the grace of God, is fundamentally the righteous life: "Do to others what you would have them do to you" Matthew 7:12. Righteousness is not a simple moral virtue like justice or prudence but a spiritual gift because righteousness is progressive, edifying, gradual, and purifying. Righteousness is the path to the eternal life (contemplative activity) and the spiritual enlightenment, through the action of the Holy Spirit; as happened to the disciples of the Lord at the celebration of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), who after having followed their teacher faithfully received the divine promises announced in the Sermon on the Mount.
This is why Paul warned the first Christians not to follow the path of the pagans, which is contrary to God, for them the divine promises are denied: "Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him" Ephesians 4:18.
And on the same topic, Paul insisted in his letter: "Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them" Ephesians 5:11. The righteous life, the life that unites men with God, is in opposition to the strategies of concealment that come from a sinful life, that is why Paul spoke of the works of darkness.
There is, therefore, in the doctrine of the Kingdom of God, a beautiful and edifying life, and another destructive and dark, and men have to choose, as in a game of two opposing sides, between one path and another.
