AI in Medicine and Healthcare - [PyData Berlin 2018]

in deep-learning •  6 years ago  (edited)

David Higgins discussed AI in medicine at the recent PyData Berlin [2018]. For those who don't know, PyData events and talks are in many large cities in the world all throught the year.

Sidenote, I learned a lot about Python programming watching some of these talks and demonstrations. One demonstration that I can recall was using SimpleCV and it was a talk from 2013.

David, as said, will delve into machine learning applied to healthcare. In his own words:

"The particular focus of my talk is on the limitations of pure machine learning approaches when it comes to biological systems." [source]

He compares it with mathematical approaches, which may seem better, but they have their own set of issues. Lastly, David discusses a combination of these models, sort of like, a hybrid approach.
