Deepa Malik has, again and again, demonstrated that physical constraints can't deter a solid mind. In 1999, was diagnosed with a spinal tumor. Even after experiencing three surgeries, she was still left paralyzed from the waist down.
Even after going through so much physical injury, she successfully managed a catering company for seven years. At the age of 36, she eventually decided to pursue a career in sports.
Once she started, Deepa was truly unstoppable. She has won 58 national & 18 International medals till today. But, these have come from various disciples.
As a matter of fact, she's the first Indian girl to win a Paralympics medal.
Deepa also holds the distinction of being the first physically challenged individual to get a Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India license.
