It all started with a question in our local language forum. A newbie member asked if he and his friends can join the DeepPoints Airdrop because he said they were not qualified to join the main Deep Onion Airdrop. I was slightly taken aback because I was not absolutely sure. I assumed they can but I cannot remember reading explicitly about a rule that applied his question.
At that time, I saw that Deep Onion moderators were actively posting in the Bitcointalk forum while I was reading it. I asked this question to them, “Do you need to be accepted in the main airdrop in order to join the 2nd airdrop (deeppoints-based)? Or are you automatically qualified for deeppoints and the 2nd airdrop even if you are not a member of the main airdrop?” In a few moments, a moderator by the name of “bykardinal” posted this response, “No need to be part of Friday's airdrop to get Onions at Sunday's airdrop, you can have even newbie account here. Wallet that you put into your profile will get some Onions for your DeepPoints. https://deeponion.org/community/account/personal-details
But your ID shouldn't be in black list.”
Now it is clear, any member in the official DeepOnion forum is eligible for the 2nd airdrop every Sunday, except for the blacklisted IDs or accounts. I understand the reason why the Deep Onion team are strict in not allowing banned accounts to participate in any airdrops. They do not want cheaters to have any benefit in Deep Onion. But for blacklisted accounts, they mentioned that they need to review the cases first to determine if they will allow them to take part in the airdrops. For sure those having blacklisted account can create new deeponion forum accounts to join the 2nd airdrop. They may not be able to join the main airdrop but they can get some Onions in the 2nd one. I do not know yet what the Deep Onion team will do in these cases. I’m pretty sure they are aware of such scenarios.
Allowing all members to join the DeepPoints Airdrop is ingenious. No one is restricted by rank or by registration date from joining. You are not even required to have a Bitctointalk account to join the official deeponion forum. Once you sign up in the deeponion forum and become an active participant in the forum, you earn DeepPoints. Those DeepPoints can be converted to Deep Onion coins once Sunday comes for the second airdrop. This very relaxed rule will allow anyone to have some Deep Onion coins. Deep Onion coin will quickly spread by word of mouth among friends. All those activity in the forum will generate web traffic. This traffic will be picked up by the search engines giving more links and references to Deep Onion.
This simple rule of allowing all members to join the second DeepPoints airdrop will create more value in Deep Onion. It is similar to a traditional coin airdrop but instead of requiring you to have Bitcoin or Ethereum coins to be eligible, you just need to be active in the forum. It is a risk free activity for thousands of people to get some Deep Onions coins.
