Fear has big eyes...or not

I want all readers to know, what I am going to write down, is 100% true story. It happened two years back. Well, at first you all ought to know, where I live. These are vineyard hills in the heart of Europe. Peaceful place, where you can always find something to work or a place to cool down. But, I will tell you, how I almost wet my pants while walking home

It was sunny afternoon at the end of the week, so my friends called me for a drink. Sure I said yes, because for good old friends you got to have some time reserved. And they offered me a lift, even though I have my own car. But what a hack, why not. Between asphalt road and our house is around 250 meters of gravel road which leads through the woods, and I like to take a walk that part alone. So I wait up for them at the crossing.

Now...maybe that is going to surprise you, but I will leave out all the action in that bar with all the drinks, heavy smoking and women.

So, they drive me home, and leave me at the same crossing I came into the car. Night was black of the blackish. You know, when there is no moon shining, even the stars were pale. So I was walking home with no light, still hoping, my eyes will turn on the night vision mode. I walk through the woods, thinking about the movie I will watch when I get home. And suddenly, something, somewhere very very very close to me ( around 3-4 meters max.)... left extremely loud and devilish sound! I remember shouting something back, while running towards our house - fast like the best world runner. First thing I checked while unlocking the doors was, if my pants stayed dry! And only than I thought : "Wait a moment, that was a male deer barking at me. In the middle of the night, right next to me! He could kill me if he wanted to...!"

I had nightmares that night, woke up wet. And for a few months did not even try to think of anything like walking through the woods in the middle of the night. So, even if there is no human being involved, an animal can be the one making one night unforgettable. Sleep tight
