Why I bought delegation.

You did what?

Twelve days ago I bought a 2000SP 30 day delegation from @blocktrades. Two days later I increased it to 4000SP. In total it cost me 106 Steem. My total SP now stands at 7,089.808 and my 100% upvote is $0.72. Not huge by any measure, but it allows me to seek out more worthy posts to upvote.

So you are trying to get a return on your investment, right?

No. When I received the delegation - which was handled very quickly by @blocktrades - I made the decision to no longer upvote my own posts. All the increased SP was to be spent upvoting and curating others. Looking at the figures, I stand to lose out on this deal. There is no way I am going to get the return on my investment through curation rewards - but that was never my intention.

So, why do it?

I believe in Steem and Steemit, and I am here for the long haul. The investment I made dented my wallet, true. What I treasure more than the monetary value though, is the sense of community and the chance to help shape it. I relish the idea of helping newbies to the platform by encouraging their posts, and I hope, helping to retain newer users who might have become disillusioned with Steemit.

I strongly believe that by voting more regularly at a higher rate than I did previously, it has helped to build my network. Since I bought the delegation, my followers have increased by almost 200.

But, Muxxy...they are lowly minnows...even if they do upvote you, it won't hold much value.

This is true. Today, they might be plankton or minnows, but so was every dolphin and whale out there. I'm investing in Steemit, the community, and my own future. So no, it's not totally selfless: there is method behind my madness. If my upvotes on other people's posts, and on their constructive comments on mine help in a little way, the 103 Steem is worth every little cent.

Awesome. Cool to see new capital entering the Steem ecosystem. I sent over a 2.7k delegation that you can use for 3-4 weeks to help with your curation efforts.

Oh wow! Thank you very much! It shall be put to good use encouraging others.

I guess your 100% vote is now a full dollar.
I think your name was also mentioned in Stella's post for delegating her power to human curators. So you should be receiving some more delegation, I guess. Congrats & a Merry Christmas to you! 😊.

200 followers in 10 days sounds awesome. May you get many more now!

You're a top bloke Muxxy, but you'll always be this fella in my eyes.....

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Seriously though mate, well done.

Aww, he's growing on me lol

Thanks dude

Haha <3 much love

I applaud your attitude and actions. Steemit needs more people like you . Upvoted and resteemed

Thank you. I hope to encourage more sharing and caring.

Yes, this. 100% THIS. This is how I feel about all this. It is hwy I am so happy about Sliderfest and was so happy about being the guinea minnow. I hope in the future to earn enough on my posts to be able to at least maintain 500 effective SP until I am big enough to have my slider on my own!

More of u pls.

Muxxy just in case I never told you bro.... you are awesome

Thank you dude.

You are a marvelous curator... And I love what you are doing Muxxi! Thank you for sharing the love around steemit and I wish you much success. I believe it will only multiply and grow... resteemed.

Thank you @wandrnrose

Welcome <3

See none of this surprises me in the least.
From the beginning before I started following you each time I saw your name I saw the goodness you were showing to folks.
Did not take long before I was a follower of you and your alter ego (world domination goal bot muxxy) yup I am hooked ;-)
Reality is we need so many more like you...
You are a roll model...

Thank you. Your constant support is much appreciated.

good work Muxxy, its a very noble endevour. But I 100% agree, build and nurture your newbies as one day their vote will be worth something and you're in prime position to recover those delegation cost 6-12months down the line.

I would totally do this If I had more steem power the amount 7000k gets you seriously makes a large impact I believe you vote would be about $0.70 - $0.75 at that rate?

$0.72 at 100% with full power

If only we have 20% of users like you, steemit will rise and shine

What I treasure more than the monetary value though, is the sense of community and the chance to help shape it.

This is great... it nearly made me tear up. I don't think I can make a decision like this even though I (consider myself) value the community!!

From redfish rank, upvoted!

What an amazing thing to do! I wish more whales would use their power like this, then you wouldn't have to buy SP, it doesn't cost them anything to do exactly the same things. Well done!

Thank you.

To change a mindset one has to start somewhere, whether from the top or from the bottom. @stellabelle is attacking it from the top. If some of us lowly accounts attack it from our end, hopefully together we can make a change.

I was talking to a person on discord, they suggested checking you out on the ramble page, so I stopped by here to see what you do,I have to say I like it! :) I don't have a great deal of power, so I have been trying to promote minnows resteeming each other, it is something we can all do with good content to help get our stuff seen by more people without having to by screen time if you like. I think the minnows will pull together and save the day, hopefully the whales will take notice and help out too!

After speaking with you at SteemFest2 I think I get you. You're a kind and generous soul. Pleased to know you <3

Thank you. It was a pleasure to meet you too.

More folks need this kind of vision. It's a small amount of 'money' in the big picture, but the good things you can do with this has a much bigger value than the SP you might be losing in the math equation. Good work sir.

Thank you Neg.

Now that is a true investment into the overall well-being of this platform. Well done sir @gmuxx

Thank you.

Putting the same money into STEEM would give a smaller upvote but the returns for your hard work would come to you instead of @blocktrades.

But my voting power, and therefore further chance to spread it around, has increased much and, like I said, I am not in it for the curation rewards. My posts do ok and I just want to help others in my little way.

Well I didnt mean through curation rewards. I meant because the steem you use to improve the network would be yours. So when the value improves due to the hard work of curators you would benefit from the increased value of the STEEM.

I see. Possibly shortsighted, but I did what I felt had the more immediate impact.

What made you decide to do this and give money to blocktrades instead of delegate steempower to lets say #thewritersblock? Not saying your decision is wrong, but I'm always looking for better ways to improve my SP quicker so I can give back to the community and was wondering your thought process.

The Writers' Block account isn't that large and I felt I could do more good with my own account.

You've definitely got quite a few views and comments usings this technique. Thanks for the info!

I just found out what delegation was recently, but I like your style

The long term strategy may never pay off to you personally. But it certainly promotes the community. Thank you.

Monetarily, no. I doubt it ever will, but that isn't my focus.

In my opinion, this is what Steemit is supposed to be. Rewarding people for quality content. Maybe we can change the mindset of people of who can change other people's minds.

Love the attitude gmuxx! I didn’t even realize you could buy delegation. Sounds like a great way to get your name out there and it will pay dividends in the future as those minnows grow!

Thanks. It wasn't so long ago I started on my Steemit journey. I remember the struggle well.

so cool to find someone out there who is interested in the little people here :) This is a really amazing platform and I like reading all the posts/articles but it did take a while to figure out the entire steem dollars/power etc. and find communities to be a part of.

It's awesome to know there are good people on here -namaste

Thank you. I only joined this May so I remember well how hard it is to get going.

Paying it forward! It cool how community brings up new ideas in people and in groups. I like it!

I salute what you do and wish you good luck in finding top quality content creators to curate.

I'm this for the long haul too, that's why im on 100% power up on all of my posts and i'm not powering down. Anything extra goes into powering up too.

My vote is only worth $0.06 or so at full power though
