All good things... The end of delegation

in delegation •  7 years ago

Alas, all good things must come to an end. Fare thee well...

4 weeks ago I delegated 2500 SP out to 8 people who took part in a competition. Originally, I said I would be delegating 1000 to one person but as is my prerogative, I changed my mind and used my stake as I saw fit. The system allows it if you haven't heard.

I am hoping that with the delegation received (or the few random votes) people were able to Power Up some of their earnings and start to either engage more with their audience or learn more about the way the system operates. Perhaps they were even able to share a little value out to a few others along the way.

2500 Steem is not a great deal for some but it is for many others including me. I actually delegate out about 6000 all up for various reasons and to various people. I think I am going to have to do a review of it though to see how people are actually using it and whether they are using it well as there are a lot of community orientated people who would love to have a slightly larger vote. Especially while we are in the Forever winter of manual curation coupled with the Darkest Nights of the crypto depression. Too dramatic? ;)

Anyway, I hope that the people have enjoyed their time and learned a little more that will help them in the future as if they have, it really won't be very long until they have surpassed the little delegation I provided. At some point, I will run some other micro experiments to try and do my part in increasing engagement and helping some accounts grow. I wish you all the best on platform and in life.

Oh, I will cut it at midnight my time which is ~2 hours away.

How can I say thank you enough to show how grateful I am. I am really really grateful for your kindness and love to the community. I was quite surprised when the delegation came because even though I entered for it, it was more of a funny post and I didn't believe I'll make the number.

Well, since I still have 2 more hours, let me swim through my feeds to see who may deserve a little upvote to balance my voting power at 70%.
I'll be back to say a better thank you but right now, let me go for some swimming in my feed pool. Thank you Mr Taraz.

No need to come back on this post but don't abandon me forever as your comments are very valuable and enjoy reading them :)

Hahahahaha, run away forever? Na na na. I gain a lot from reading your post. There's always something to take home. You may not know it but the current changes am putting up now to balance my Steemit life and real life was inspired by two of your post. Also, I used to just allow my fingers to type my comments and broadcast them, often times they were some avoidable errors. After one of your post two weeks ago, I now spend a few seconds skimming through my comment before I hit the post button. I may not be pretty good with English but if the error can be avoided, then I aim to.

So I guess I'll not be running away forever.

It has been a blast and I really enjoyed the bigger influence while it lasted. I managed to gain around 50-60SP during the month, and I'm pretty pleased with that. Someday i'll get back to my beloved 250 :). Thank you again, Taraz!

I can't thank you enough Taraz! The 500 SP was definitely a game changer for me. I actually made a thank you post earlier titled It Was Nice While It Lasted! detailing my experience with the gift.

Forever Winter of manual curation coupled with the Darkest Nights of the crypto depression.
That is one of the most epic things I have read in a while... and no, it's not too dramatic!

Thanks for helping me weather the Forever Winter and Darkest nights of the last four weeks!

Oh, I missed it. I will come by soon. check your DM too. :)

Take your time... it's not going anywhere... and I made it long so there will be some reading involved! hahaha On the surface it looks like one of my regular photography posts... but wait, there's more!
On my way to check now!

Wow finally...never thought this day would come but it is finally here. A very big thank you to you @tarazkp for you love and support. This wouldn't have been made possible without you. It was fun being a mini whale for a whole month and I am really grateful to you for this rare opportunity. Thank you once again and may God continue to enlarge your pocket.

Finally it has come to an end, big thanks to you @tarazkp.
More grace.

Yes, my brother is a very generous person. A reasonably rare thing in an otherwise greedy world.

The contest was great and it was really cool to see you give out more then you originally proposed. To have any amount of unpaid delegated SP is a massive boost to an account.

Know you have graced a few of my posts with a vote and those made a huge difference. It's really nice looking back at your post and seeing it jump up like that. So thank you for that!

Hope my content is good enough to keep getting visits and it wasn't purely because I was a runner up. My streak is up to 4 straight days with a post now and plan to write another tonight so it's ready for tomorrow.

More important I haven't used a bidbot in that time either...painful seeing the really low payouts compared to what I had before, but trying to make this work without giving to the rich for right now.

You are welcome and I will keep dropping by in the future too. Seeing the payouts drop is terrible but at the same time, perhaps it is good for the soul. Time will tell.

Well I just had my last payout from all the posts I did paid promotion on and also paid my delegations from. In that time I started with 50 Steem and 50 SBD. I ended with 50.312 Steem and 49.473. Plus I gave away something like 5 SBD to different causes in the same time.

So my net on all that was pretty much a wash, but I gained a bunch of SP so probably did come out ahead in the end. This took some doing as I would watch until the last second for bots that had a good ROI and hope nobody else would turn that amount negative.

Do think that time invested in doing that was keeping me from having time to write more content and long run I'd rather have lots of content vs a few break even posts. Going to keep plugging away and see where I am in a month.

Thank you @tarazkp. It was good to have that much upvote. Never did get to see my VP at 100% though. 😂

I did get some momentum on my sp and I am on a roll right now to get my sp up to par. Thank you once again, I deeply appreciate it. So there goes my super powers... 😂

It won't take you long hopefully and if you continue engaging outsode of the platform it will help a lot too.

This was a great thing you did . I learned so much . Thanks and best wishes . We will keep in touch .
P.S. I'm keeping the signed photo

The photo was a gift from me to the world... ;)

What an excellent thing to do. I am also trying to support the people who are in SteemIt for the long haul and powering up.

it take a bit of effort and value but, 'money where the mouth is' still holds some sway in my aged world.

Perhaps in a perfect 'current' eco system:

Steemit delegates to dolphin community builders where they grow themselves/minnows 50/50. Once they get to about ~40K SP, the delegation shifts to one of the minnows supported by the dolphin. The dolphin has a contract to stay powered up at least the 40 and spread at least 50% to the community for some period of time. It would develop a middle class relatively fast that could support broadly. A few contracts, a little accountability and it would work quite well to distribute relatively organically and healthily.

I think it is great that you are supporting people to get more involved with Steemit. It goes along with the general concept that we discussed a few of your blogs ago. Keeping more people active on Steemit.

Thank you. You have done well by most people. It isn't easy to delegate power to help minnows grow but you did it. I hope you will do more for most of us who are still waiting to be a beneficiary to the competition.

Surely the lucky ones are grateful for the help given, steemit is a great experience especially for the people of great reputation who help small fish... I loved reading "Especially while we are in the Forever winter of manual curation coupled with the Darkest Nights of the crypto depression" I laughed a lot about it. For my part I will be attentive to any challenges to see if I am the new lucky recipient of a new delegation. I think it will be a big challenge because I don't speak the language. Thank you for your good heart, I hope the translator is doing his job well.

This looks like a great idea!

That is a lot for me and many. I hope it helps. I continue to consistently post and hope people will find my content different and entertaining and I will gain strength ! I always enjoy your posts.

I hope i might be able to take advantage of it whenever you organize something like that again. Though to be honest, i don't completely understand the complexities involved in taking advantage of steem delegation.

Delegation just adds value to your own SP so you have more voting weight.

Thanks for your support on this platform, hope the people who have the opportunity use it wisely. We are waiting to hear more good things ahead from you sir @tarazkp. Once again thanks for the opportunity granted...cheers

Congrats for this great idea tarazkp as it somewhat benefit me but it also did with lot of good steemians out there so thank you so much!
My best wishes for your week :)

Lucky people who received your delegation @tarazkp. i'm sure they will miss it now.

Have you seen what @asb12345 does and how he keeps an eye on what his delegatees are doing? I am fortunate enough to be one of them. 75 SP one week then another 25 and then another 100 SP last week so my total SP would hit the magic 500 Sp mark.

It definitely affects my behaviour as you get "penalised" for self-voting and aren't allowed to use bots at all.

It's interesting reading that "thedarkhorse" only just broke even with the bots and that his net "on all that was pretty much a wash".

It's hard keeping going with payouts so low when I see others wo started the same time as me doing so much better. But there definitely seems to be a psychological benefit to receiving a delegation as well as the SP one.

I shall be keeping an eye out for any future competitions you might run! 😁

Will you be hosting another contest i would like to get that delegation seems to help a lot of people
