Happy #deletefacebook day everyone!

Wake up. Wake up. Wakeup.

The data Facebook sold in the Cambridge Analytica is just the 'tip of the iceberg'. This data giant has been applying advanced Machine Learning algorithms and Data Mining techniques to categorize you and your 'likes', wants, needs, and desires - then they sell it for profit!

Advertisements work because the change human behavior. When Facebook sells targeted ads, they are changing the behavior of a target group of people. This may seem insignificant at first but when this is applied at a large scale (such as the 50 Million accounts sold in the Analytica scandal) it has the potential to even sway elections. But...I just wanted to share some shameless selfies with my friends!

Get a copy of the data Facebook knows about you using this tutorial. It will scare the crap out of you. This business model is dead.

Then #deletefacebook your account!

After that, take a look at the new blockchain-based social media sites. I like steemit.com. You will be amazed at the quality of the content.

It feels a bit sad but...I'm not saying goodbye to you. I'm just saying goodbye to Facebook! So let's make a stand together and bail this sinking ship. Send a message.

I know it’s horrible, but I can’t commit myself deleting Facebook because all my friends are there and all organized activites in groups. I would completely fall out. Scary I know, but it’s the truth. But I’ll keep my content for Steemit and I like how it’s open for everybody to comment and connect😊

Yeah, that is the sentiment that I get from a lot from my friends too and I understand it. I'm hoping that new platforms (bump to Steemit!) can help build new ways to connect people that don't sell us as the product.

Luckily, our millennial generation is super dynamic when it comes to adopting cutting edge technologies and applications so I think that the transition from Facebook into a more trusted platform could happen rapidly when the right solution presents itself.

I'm crossing my fingers! I went to a social media seminar not too long ago and I learned that Snapchat is number one at the moment... Facebook n.2, Instagram 3. Things are changing. I hope to see Steemit rise and shine!
