New Delhi, May 24: Passengers of a Delhi metro train were quickly evacuated at Rajiv chowk station after sparks and smoke were seen on the train roof on Wednesday morning.
According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, smoke and spark were noticed on a train at Rajiv chowk at 10:17 am. A few passengers also complained about hearing two minor blasts.
Passengers were deboarded and yellow Line service was halted for a few minutes.
According to Hindustan Times, sparks which appeared in the rear part of the Samyapur-Badli bound train was followed by two minor blasts.
DMRC suspects short circuit to be the reason behind the incident. Still, a probe is going on in the matter. The train has been sent to the depot for further analysis and investigation, reported ANI.
“Smoke reported from the AC of the last coach of a Metro train at Rajiv Chowk platform heading towards Badli at 10:17 am. As a precaution, the train was evacuated at the station itself and passengers accommodated in the next train.The train was sent to the depot for further analysis and investigation. Train services are running normally on the line,” a DMRC spokesperson said as quoted by HT.Screenshot_2017-05-25-20-58-32.png
