Basic human rights before Democracy.

For all the talk of "democracy" that's happening, we have to realize that democracy is useless without a concept of basic human rights.

A democracy can vote people into slavery in an instant. Hamas was democratically elected. The Nazis won a plurality in a democratic process.

I'm not gonna pull the same bullshit as a lot of conservatives, and say that this country isn't a democracy. I will point out that we're a democratic republic, and that rule of law isn't subject to the whims of a majority.

Rights have to come first.

The Magna Carta predated democracy in Europe by several centuries.

The rule of law is more important than democracy.
