Why democracy really did just die

I get the point, the law is the law and the referendum was technically non-binding. The judges need to uphold the law. I think its very dangerous for people to be spouting off about how ‘unelected judges’ are the ‘enemy of the people’. Its simply the case that they are doing what they must to ensure that the law of the land is applied. I don’t have a problem with that.

The fact of the matter though is that it should never have come to this. Cameron et al clearly never for a second through that the oik’s would ‘vote the wrong way’ so didn’t bother to make sure that what they were promising (an in/out referendum where “This is your choice, the government will implement what you decide”) was actually what they delivered. This in itself should tell you all you need to know about the steaming cesspit of incompetence that is the houses of parliament. Let’s be very clear on this, nobody when they cast their vote did so under the pretext that they were simply casting a vote to inform MPs what they would like to happen but that the MPs can make their own mind up. For the liberal left to be screaming about how it was always non-binding, we knew that, we told you so etc. is frightening. Do these people understand what they are doing here. Do they appreciate they are complicit in the death of our democracy? The referendum vote was the single biggest democratic event in this country’s history. The people voted to leave the EU. End of. None of this hard brexit, soft brexit nonsense. The vote was to leave, so let’s leave.

Ultimately this all boils down to a technicality. There is no doubt the vote was to be a definitive statement from the people on whether we wanted to be part of the EU or not. The fact that the people are using this technicality to try and subvert this democratic exercise is simply horrifying.

The answer is to this is simple. Pass legislation quickly which gives the prime minister the necessary powers to fulfil the wishes of the people. MPs and Lords should then all vote to pass the legislation per the wishes of the people. Simple. Right? No, of course not. The democracy denying poltroons will do what they know is best for the oiks, after all, the silly little people didn’t know what they were doing when the voted to leave.

How this must look to all the countries across the world where we are trying to impose our version of democracy heaven only knows. It is a scandal, probably the scandal of our time. This will not end well.

So what do you think is going to happen now? Are we going to see heads stuck on spear tops?

Honestly, if they manage to block brexit i think we will see rioting and public disorder on a scale we have never seen before.
