I have read a few posts about the Modern Democratic System that most of the world live in, and I wanted to post something about it.
As you may know, the so-called "Democracy" that we all know today, are not actually Democracies. They are Representative Governments. What is the difference? Well, you, as a citizen, decide almost nothing, you just choose between those you can choose. Maybe there is no one that actually represents you, but you have to choose. And after you choose, the winner will be able to do almost anything. Is like a blind confidence that we give to handle a country to someone that we do not know that may or may not do what he said he would do. So... it’s quite obsolete.
The actual Democracy that we wanted from the Greeks was different to what we call "Democracy" today. Every Citizen had to be a part of the Government at least once in his life. And they decided if the proposals from the heads of the comities would become laws or not. Nice, isn’t it?
As you may imagine at this point, this is quite a utopia, considering the realities of our Governments around the world, but someone had an idea.
What if a Candidate can only vote (in legislation) what the members of the Party (all of them) tell him to vote? It would be like Hacking politics from within, hacking with a Trojan tactic.
During the years of 2012-2014, a new Party was born in Argentina, the “Partido de la Red” (The Web Party).
They made a campaign, developed an Open Source app called DemocracyOS that enables the members of the party to vote every law. The result would be communicated to the candidate and the candidate would vote as the majority of the members had decided.
In 2013 the participated of the election and got 22000 votes, in our country it means that it got more votes than the local parties. Not enough to get a candidate elected but they could run the 1st official Digital Democracy pilot of the Americas in the Congress of Buenos Aires.
The DemocracyOS Project had a good run of 3+ years being translated into 18 languages & used by activists, nonprofits & governments.
Santiago Siri and Pia Mancini, founders of the Partido de la Red went trough several experiences and individualized the real enemy: Corruption. They shared their story:

DAVOS (World Economic Forum):
BOOK: Hacktivismo, published by Random House.
They were called from Y Combinator in 2015 (they fund early stage startups) and created the Democracy Earth Foundation in San Francisco.
