Behold the absolute and total insanity of 'laws'. (More insane 'Statism', in the form of 'Democracy')
'Democracy' shouting "we want things for free... unless it affects us personally, then we want laws to tell people their employers can't feed them free lunches because it hurts our businesses! In that case we want our 'Democracy' that is 'for the People' to write laws and enforce them that say that nobody is allowed to eat for free from their employers, so that they are more likely to buy from our restaurants! Cause laws are good and all power to the People and stuff".
This is just complete insanity though! The natural Demographics of a place like San Francisco is teeming with the type of people who love to scream stuff like "Government and other groups of people have no right telling us what to do with our own lives and bodies and stuff, man!" And then once again show their blatant hypocrisy that they want to enforce 'laws' (to which at the end of governments and laws by men are ultimately the threat of a gun) that tell you that your employer cannot give you free food!
[It's also the all-too-typical hypocrisy of these 'statists' who do not know what it is they're advocating, to shout the same sentiments, and then want government to hold a gun and make you buy things like health insurance! So we see it's not really about any principles of Freedom, just pretending to be concerned about it, and then completely flipping one's position the moment it is perceived as beneficial to these types! Moving on]
Isn't this the movement always complaining about necessitating 'higher standards of living' though? Well 'duh', when you don't have to pay for one thing, as the Classical Liberal economist Henry Hazlitt brilliantly alluded to, "That economic power to purchase a thing is then 'released' into the economy". (Paraphrasing off memory and remembering only the general point he was making, and the word 'released' specifically) The point he was making was that what one can save in one thing, means more economic and purchasing power in another. (Much like Bastiat's 'broken glass' analogy to which he also brilliantly argues but I will not go into at this moment in the interest of the reader's time)
In short, people saving on what would have amounted to the costs of food everyday, means more to spend on another thing such as dinner, clothing, amenities, or other needs, wants, and desires provided by local markets. (Or even far-reaching markets but again these 'come back' when they are not regulated and controlled by government entities!) Put simply, it all works out for the economy as a whole!
But people of this form of thinking do not know, nor understand such things. For like children, every time there is some kind of problem the answer is simple, "Ahh, we'll just fix that with another law", to which there is no end, and hence the 'insanity' of pursuing such foolish and always short-sighted things!
"I don't like that my business is slowing and suffering! It's all the fault of employers who give their employees free-meals and lunches! I don't like this so I want the government and its laws to fix it by imposing my will upon them, so that they are more likely to come to my place and give me their business! Hail Democracy! Long live Statism! With ideas so good, they have to be mandated and require a gun to get people to follow them! Oh yeah, and tomorrow is the day we march and tell those fascists that they have no right telling us what to do with our lives and bodies".
(I just shared this a few days ago while on way back from work but not one comment or 'like', leaving me to suspect what many do concerning Facebook's algorithms that filter messages that are Pro-Liberty. Another reason to ditch this trash site in time and get on Pro-Freedom sites like MeWe and Minds. Sharing again in hopes that it will be seen by more this time)
