Project summerhouse (4): Old and not gold

in demolition •  6 years ago

After all the bureaucracy and paperwork (a lot of it!!) we finally could start the actual work. Not building, not earthmoving, but demolishing the old cottage. As it was mainly wood, my dad wanted to save it for further use meaning burning it in a fireplace. It meant a lot of work with a sledgehammer but last autumn we had time for that.

This is the picture of the work in progress:

After many hours of demolition work, we got to this point:

We couldn't go further on our own and asked our neighbor for help as he has an excavator. Luckily, he is a nice guy and gladly helped us.

That's how it's done!

There was a lot of work even after that. Luckily, I have a small son and I didn't have to participate that much. I had to take care of him. :) I saw/participated in the most interesting parts, sledgehammer and excavator, and that was enough for me.

Aftet this point there is no turning back. Now, we really have to build a new summerhouse this summer.
