붉은귀거북은 생태계교란 생물이다.
[생물다양성 보전 및 이용에 관한 법률] 제2조 8. “생태계교란 생물”이란 다음 각 목의 어느 하나에 해당하는 생물로서 제21조의2제1항에 따른 위해성평가 결과 생태계 등에 미치는 위해가 큰 것으로 판단되어 환경부장관이 지정ㆍ고시하는 것을 말한다.
