I've been watching the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard proceedings as much as possible.
What I can say right now is that I believe Johnny Depp. I don't think he's a saint; but, I also believe that Amber Heard lied about him to make herself look good. The mounting testimony has shown Depp to be a mostly quiet, nonconfrontational person and Heard to be a manic who picks fights for her own entertainment and would prefer to hit Depp rather than let him retreat.
That said, defamation lawsuits are (rightly) extremely hard to win in this country. Heard never mentioned Depp by name in her piece in the Washington Post. We all knew who she was talking about; but, that seems like it will be an obstacle for Depp's team.
If I were a betting man, I would bet that Depp won't win. That said, I don't even know that that was the goal. Anybody following this case with the slightest objectivity sees that Amber Heard is the bad guy in all of this. Depp may lose in court while winning in the court of public opinion.
