Treatment for depression

Talk to your GP, they can give you a dose to SSRIs or SNRIs and if you take them it can help alleviate the symptoms over time. And this can make going to therapy in particular CBT easier.
My doctor told me that I can take the depression medication for 6 months beyond the time I think the symptoms have gone away, so that the impact lasts. My depression is worse in Winter, so last January I got sertraline (generic version of Zoolft) for the first time, and was told I'd be on it through to the summer of 2020. Even if I felt great over the summer 2019, it's better to stick to it over winter at the end of 2019 and then reduce the dose in Summer 2020 and get off it.

basically the SSRI I took was sertraline (generic version of zoolft) and was told the impact of it might not be felt for some weeks, but keep taking it and come back in 8 weeks when the repeat prescription was up and the doctor could change the dose if needs be. After that I just got the repeat prescription and scheduled therapy every 2 - 4 weeks to get my thoughts out there. Summer was nice, winter blues haven't come back as bad this season. I'm still taking medication and going to therapy when I can.
