PODCAST: Ep 425 – 21st Century Depression

in depression •  7 years ago

In this intimate episode, Tim discusses the world we live in today – a 21st century depression. In the past, depression was a more tangible problem, but today it is less a physical or mental problem, and rather a symptom of something very wrong with our values. Given the rise of secularism, and the growing popularity of meaningless lives, it is no wonder more people are depressed! It makes perfect sense!

Tim comes to the conclusion that our lives aren’t about us. It sounds strange, but he insists that our lives are about serving others, not just serving ourselves. When people put their own happiness as their top priority, it leads to an unfulfilling life, which leads us to a depressed state.

ALSO – We expand on the fact that fewer teens have jobs today than in years past. Why? For some reason, teens have too much pride to work in low level jobs. Why would someone with no accomplishments have so much pride? Guess what, millennials! You are not “too good” to work in the fast food industry, and if you do your job well, then you can EARN some pride.
