The total value of the entire derivatives market is said to be around 1.2 quadrillion dollars according to investopedia and others!
Now the total value of the NYSE is only 18.5 trillion dollars, which mean the derivatives market value is 64.86x more valuable then the entire stock market!
Now if you don't know what a derivative is..
It is basically a contract (or bet) on anything really. For example, mortgages, credit card debts, or anything really (I even heard
there are derivatives on what the weather will be) and the value is 1.2 quadrillion dollars!
So if there is that much money betting on what some see as bad investments, then what if all of those people decided that cryptocurrency was a better investment, and moved that value into the crypto market?
Well I did a few calculations..
1,200,000,000,000,000 (derivatives market) / 144,915,855,293 (market cap of all crypto) = 8280.67
So that means that if the entire cryptocurrency market took all the value from the derivatives market and was worth 1.2 quadrillion dollars here are a few prices we might see if it was evenly distributed as the market is now..
Bitcoin - $4000 x 8280.67 = $274,277,896,781.11
Yes Bitcoin would be valued at $274B for 1 Bitcoin!
Ethereum - $300 x 8280.67 = $2,484,201.00
Ethereum could become very expensive at $2.4B making smart contracts maybe even too expensive.
STEEM - $1.50 x 8280.67 = $12,421.00
How does $12k per 1 STEEM sound.. Well not only would all of our accounts be A LOT more valuable, but upvotes on Steemit would be a lot more valuable as well, and even the minnows upvotes could be worth hundreds!
All in all this is doubtful that we would see this kind of growth, but even just 10% of the NYSE ($1.8 trillion) coming into the crypto space could send huge surges into all cryptos!
I am sure we all dream of this day, but even if that day does not come we are still so much further ahead of the 99.9% of the world NOT using Bitcoin or crypto.. It is only a matter of time before there is a massive change in the world economy!

We will hit $200B first and then more Wall St people will finally be FORCED to participate in the fear of missing out (FOMO). This will drive the markets to $500B-$1 Trillion by 2020 in my opinion.

Ethereum's worth, $2,484,201.00, wouldn't mean it's $2.4B. It means it's $2.5M... Not $2.4B

Bitcoin cannot have derivatives. You cannot even short bitcoin. You can only own it or not own it.
So a better measure would be to compare it to the amount of gold and its total value. 7 trillion or thereabouts. So, if bitcoin manages to be equal to gold, then we talking about around a $400,000 dollar valued bitcoin.
