The Médanos de Coro National Park is a national park located in the state of Falcón.
The isthmus comprises a strip 30 km long and 5 km wide. It has an average height of 20 masl (meters above sea level). Its sandy accumulations move in a changing way due to the action of the trade winds that blow from east to west. Los Médanos de Coro was declared a National Park on February 6, 1974, covering an area of 91,280 hectares, of which 42,160 are continental lands and 49,120 are marine areas.1
Los Médanos de Coro are sand formations characteristic of the Falcon state relief, this part of the Lara-Falcón system due to its dunes that exceed 8 masl.
This National Park preserves the protected area closest to the Gulf of Venezuela. In addition, it preserves a very vulnerable coastal desert and a coast full of mangroves.
I decided to visit this arid place approximately two years ago, unlike many tourists I decided to do it by its main entrance, called The Monument to the Mother. From the moment you make contact with the sand you begin to feel the energies that the place transmits to you. From horseback riding to a kind man who offers rides in a vehicle for this type of terrain ... I recommend visiting this park from 5:30 in the afternoon to enjoy a spectacular sunset.
